Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect in my first therapy session?

In your first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your goals, any concerns you have, and start building a treatment plan tailored to your needs. It’s a safe space to share whatever you’re comfortable with, and there’s no pressure to dive too deep right away.

How long does each therapy session last?

Each therapy session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes. This gives us enough time to explore your thoughts and feelings while ensuring you leave with a clear plan for the week ahead.

How often should I attend therapy?

The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Many clients start with weekly sessions and may adjust to bi-weekly or monthly as they progress. We’ll work together to find a schedule that supports your growth and healing.

Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything you share in your sessions is private and protected by law, with a few exceptions related to safety concerns (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). We’ll discuss these exceptions in our first session to ensure you’re fully informed.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone looking to improve their mental health, work through challenges, or grow personally. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want to better understand yourself, therapy can provide the tools and support you need to make positive changes.

How do I get started with therapy?

Getting started is easy. Simply contact me through my website, call my office, or use my online scheduling tool to book an initial consultation.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, I offer online therapy sessions via secure video platform. This allows you to receive the same high-quality care from the comfort of your own home. Online therapy is a great option for those with busy schedules or who prefer a remote option.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I offer a range of therapeutic approaches including Holistic Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed, Mindfulness-Oriented, Cognitive Behavioral, Strength-Based, Solution-Focused, and Spiritually-Minded Therapy. Depending on your needs, we’ll choose the approach that best fits your situation and helps you achieve your goals.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I ask for at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee, as this time is reserved specifically for you.

Do you accept insurance?

Please check with your insurance provider to verify your coverage for mental health services. I also offer private pay options for those who prefer not to use insurance. I accept Aetna, Cigna, Cigna EAP, Kaiser Permanente, Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Premera Blue Cross, United Healthcare, and United Healthcare EAP. I am partnered with Mindful Therapy Group for billing and insurance management. We will email you to help set up your account and securely add your insurance and payment details.
